These photos are inspiring to me because I can try new techniques like these photos. I also love how detailed the eye is and how the color pops out against the black and white.

All of these photos fit into a general theme of Black and White Landscapes. These photos have a higher contrast and are photos from a state park in Pennsylvania. Through my images I am trying to show the beauty of nature and the park, as well as how black and white can make a photograph seem quite timeless. I was influenced to create these photos by my love for nature and exploring. While I was creating these images I thought of Ansel Adams and the photographs that he created with black and white landscapes. All of my landscapes are a little different depending on how far away they are taken, if there is a lot going on in the picture, or the different hues of black, grey and white.
I took these photos as practice. I learned that I need to take my photos earlier in the day because I began to run out of daylight. I also had trouble focusing the part of the bug that I wanted focused. However, I like how I was able to get different angles of the same slug. I think I will try to photograph more interesting bugs while camping this weekend, as the slug was not very interesting to photograph.
These photos are inspiring to me because I love the depth of field, vivid colors, and details shown on the bug.
This collage shows many of my favorite things. I used the feather tool to have a soft edge on all of the photos so that they look alike. In the background, I used the gradient tool to make the color go from blue to white. I used two different fonts for my captions and for my name. I used different colors of blue to help the captions stand out. All of the images on this collage I took or if I am in them, a friend took them for me. I enjoyed this project because it allowed me to remember some of the basic tools in Photoshop.
For my final project, I made a "photo book" out of wood, nails, hinges and photos. I created original work and took risks. I was very unsure of how to take on the project. I had a vision but I had no idea how to actually create it. I created unique work because I have never seen a photo book like this. I took risks because I was unsure on the sizes of everything and how to attach the photos and I wasn't sure if it would work out or not. I am very happy with how my project turned it. I believe it show cases some of my favorite photos but it also shows what I value in life.
This project was very hard for me to think of an idea for since I had very few people to photograph. The concept I came up with is that in the equestrian world, there are people that "work" their way through it, since it is an expensive activity, and there are people that pay their way through it by buying the fanciest horses and showing at very expensive shows. I decided to photograph my friend who is a little bit of both in the equestrian world. She bought this pony from the kill pen and worked with him to train him to be the pony he became. She then qualified for Pony Finals (one of the hardest things to do) with him and then sold him, so that he could teach another little girl. After she got the money from him, she bought a fancy horse to show competitively. Now onto the pictures, I developed my art making skills and collaborated during this "photo shoot". I developed my art making skills because I learned how to use the lighting to my advantage. I learned that shooting at "golden hour" really makes a difference in how the images turned out. In the two vertical images, I love the lighting and the way it draws attention to the subjects. I collaborated with Hannah to figure out which images worked best together and in which order they should be put. Overall, I am happy with how the project turned out.
Tori T and Dani:
It was challenging to figure out how to make it symmetrical. We overcame our challenges by talking about what we were doing and how we were doing it. Coloring it in was probably the easiest part of the butterfly. We learned how to communicate while we were working. We also learned that team work makes the dream work. I really enjoyed this project. At first it was hard to think of an idea, but I was really happy with how my photos turned out. During this project I developed my art making skills and I reflected. I developed my art making skills by creating a really shallow depth of field and trying to get just the butterfly in focus and the background really blurry. I reflected while I was taking the photos. The photos turned out really nice while I was just quickly looking at my camera screen. The lighting was working really well so I just kept shooting at different angles to get different types of pictures. Overall I was very pleased with how the project turned out.
Hailey, Tori H, and Dani: Our original objects were pretzels, paper, gum wrappers, stapler, chap stick and random food wrappers. Our new object is a flower because the pretzels are the circle and the paper is a stem and the wrappers are colorful inside of our flower. We problem solved and communicated. We problem solved by working with such small objects that weren't very useful, but we made it work. We also communicated by coming up with an idea together and listening to each others comments.
